Exterior Preparation Is Critical to Long-Term Results

Exterior paint performance depends heavily on surface condition and preparation. Before painting begins, surfaces are assessed for peeling paint, weathering, moisture exposure, surface contamination, and previous coating failure.

As needed, preparation may include cleaning or power washing to remove dirt, chalking, mildew, and other buildup that can prevent proper paint adhesion. Surfaces are then allowed to dry fully before further prep or coating begins.

Additional preparation may include scraping loose or failing paint, sanding rough areas, spot priming exposed surfaces, and addressing localized adhesion issues. By conditioning exterior surfaces properly, new coatings are able to bond correctly and resist premature wear.

Throughout the preparation process, surrounding areas are protected and work zones remain organized to minimize disruption around the home. Careful preparation supports a cleaner application and helps extend the life of the exterior paint system.

Preparation Typically Addresses:

  • Surface cleaning / power washing (as required)
  • Peeling or failing paint
  • Weathered or exposed surfaces
  • Spot priming and adhesion issues
  • Protection of surrounding areas

Neighborhood Opinions

Mark J

Excellent Job! I was thoroughly impressed with Jared and Kyle! Not only did Jared get back to me when others failed, his communication throughout was excellent. The job was professional and they were very quick to check their own work and correcting anything missed. I would highly recommend Neighborhood Painting for any job!

We used Jared for exterior painting of our home. He was quick to respond with a quote and flexible for what we wanted to paint, which included a second floor set of shutters that was difficult to access. Felt his pricing was fair. Will consider using again for the next project.
